Role Title: Safety and Compliance Coordinator
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Compensation: Up to £35,000 based on experience
Objective of the Role
The primary aim of this position is to deliver comprehensive administrative support to the Head of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) and the HSSE Governance Manager. This role will involve collaboration with operational teams to facilitate the efficient functioning of the HSSE department and the broader health and safety initiatives within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the HSSE department and its related functions.
- Maintain the Health and Safety Management System, ensuring proper document control.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes and updates.
- Assist in both internal and external reporting processes.
- Develop and manage systems and databases to ensure compliance across all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEWQ) areas, including incident reporting, safety communications, and mental health initiatives.
- Coordinate training and development programs for all personnel.
- Manage documentation related to HSSE audits, safety briefings, incidents, and working hours.
- Generate monthly reports on HSSE performance.
- Support the creation and distribution of safety communications and training materials.
- Update and revise HSSE procedures as instructed by the department head.
- Conduct orientation sessions for new employees.
- Facilitate and coordinate Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments.
- Assist in organizing safety stand-downs.
- Support the annual health surveillance coordination.
- Help administer the drug and alcohol testing program.
- Oversee the issuance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Provide administrative support for emergency equipment management.
- Act as a substitute for the Governance Manager when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Experience collaborating with health and safety teams.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience, preferably in the utilities or construction sectors.
- Professional demeanor, approachable, team-oriented, diligent, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines.
- Relevant qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH are desirable.
