About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Estates Surveyor to join our Property Services team at Eastbourne Borough and Lewes District Councils. As an Estates Surveyor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the housing property portfolios of both councils remain compliant with relevant legislation and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and attend systematic estate inspections, recording and following through all actions with internal stakeholders and contractors.
  • Manage and support the design, procurement, and implementation of Compliance and M&E contracts and works.
  • Inspect and diagnose defects; apply relevant health and safety legislation and best practice to ensure policies, procedures, and specified works are current and compliant.
  • Ensure appointments are completed for H&S Compliance work such as gas safety, electrical safety, asbestos management, prevention of legionella, including incident investigations, reports of damp & mould growth.
  • Complete and record full Fire Risk Assessments & reviews when required. Carry out PAT testing of Electrical portable appliances as required.
  • Carry out CWST tank inspections and temperature testing for Legionella L8 compliance.
  • Produce method and risk assessments and specifications as required. Provide Health and Safety advice and support to the Asset Investment team, acting as Project Surveyor in identified schemes.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Good level of literacy and technical acumen.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging legislation in relation to health and safety within social housing.
  • Resilience, proactivity, and the ability to manage customer expectations effectively.
