Position Overview: The Lead Site Engineer plays a pivotal role in overseeing the engineering team on-site, ensuring the successful execution of various segments of the project. We are seeking professionals with substantial experience in multidisciplinary projects valued between £5-£20 million. Familiarity with infrastructure and rail projects, along with a solid understanding of design and build environments, is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Site Manager and step in during their absence. This position serves as a crucial stepping stone towards a managerial role within the construction sector. Candidates should possess experience in the following areas:

  1. Upholding high standards for safety, quality, and environmental practices, including method statement briefings and site-specific inductions.
  2. Demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  3. Documenting any service damages encountered.
  4. Creating and monitoring detailed contract schedules in accordance with Planning Standards, including bi-weekly and four-weekly updates.
  5. Exhibiting a strong understanding of construction outputs.
  6. Drafting and/or evaluating complex method statements.
  7. Managing portions of the cost plan effectively.
  8. Assisting in the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers.
  9. Acting as a deputy for the Site Manager.
  10. Leading meetings with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and third parties.
  11. Managing and composing contractual correspondence.
  12. Implementing the HSEQ management plan.
  13. Establishing and overseeing office administration systems.
  14. Coordinating the ordering and installation of site IT systems.
  15. Performing the role of Temporary Works Coordinator and/or Crane Coordinator.
  16. Developing project completion programs aligned with project objectives.
  17. Producing detailed reconstruction schedules that are fully logic-linked, showcasing critical path activities, quantities, outputs, key dates, procurement details, and necessary approvals.
  18. Assigning smaller segments of the program to engineering staff for detailed daily target planning.
  19. Preparing bi-weekly construction schedules derived from the master program.
  20. Maintaining awareness of financial targets for the work section and conducting regular meetings with the commercial team to review costs.
  21. Understanding individual activity costs and identifying financially critical activities.
  22. Involving subcontractors in the planning process and integrating their detailed plans into the overall section plan.
  23. Engaging the section team in the broader plan to foster ownership and collaboration.
  24. Coordinating operationally with other section leaders.
  25. Monitoring the section plan, updating progress, and providing feedback to the Project Manager and section team.
  26. Updating the plan weekly with as-built information and events affecting progress.
  27. Reviewing upcoming critical activities and long lead-in tasks.
  28. Ensuring all necessary paperwork, method statements, permits, and licenses are in place for scheduled work.
  29. Conducting regular planning meetings to debrief past work and strategize future tasks.
  30. Participating in review meetings with the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor to discuss delays and disruptions.
