About the Role

The Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Midwifery Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our maternity services, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical leadership and guidance to our midwifery team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance to the midwifery team, ensuring high-quality care is delivered to our patients.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures, ensuring they are evidence-based and aligned with national guidelines.
  • Lead and manage the development of midwifery services, including the implementation of new care pathways and the evaluation of existing services.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery and improve patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of education and training programs for midwives, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to midwives, ensuring they have the necessary support to deliver high-quality care.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife with a strong background in midwifery practice and leadership.
  • Teaching accreditation and experience in education and training.
  • Recent relevant practice at Band 8A and above.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to network across organizations.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and disseminate complex information.
