Position Overview

The Assistant Management Accountant plays a crucial role in the finance department, reporting directly to the Finance Manager within a dynamic and supportive Management Accounts team. This position encompasses a variety of management accounting responsibilities.

A flexible approach to work is essential to accommodate the business's needs during critical periods in the financial calendar.

The successful candidate will oversee tasks such as managing bank accounts, performing balance sheet reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and conducting weekly financial reporting, along with routine and ad-hoc financial analyses.

Building and maintaining positive relationships with other departments, including credit control, accounts payable, and project finance, will be a vital part of this role.

This position also offers study support for pursuing a relevant chartered accountancy qualification, such as CIMA or ACCA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly comprehensive bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations with accuracy.
  • Execute monthly journal postings efficiently.
  • Analyze monthly costs for project recharges and overheads.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
  • Maintain and analyze fixed assets.
  • Support the monthly financial closing process, ensuring all deadlines are adhered to.
  • Assist with month-end profit and loss and balance sheet analyses.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements.
  • Provide assistance during internal and external audits.
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required.
Qualifications
  • Part Qualified in CIMA or ACCA.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Experience with computerized financial systems and software.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to process enhancement.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, efficient, and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in cross-department collaboration.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for learning and development.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in management accounts within a similar sector.
  • Familiarity with Oracle accounting systems.
