Regional Technical Manager - Subsidence & Surveying Division

Job Purpose:
To deliver expert subsidence and surveying solutions related to domestic and commercial property insurance claims. This role involves efficiently managing personal workload to meet business goals and adhere to established service level agreements (SLAs).


The position requires visiting affected properties to evaluate technical and insurance elements necessary for resolving claims and restoring damaged structures.

The role necessitates a readiness to travel across the UK and flexibility in work arrangements to fulfill business needs.

It is essential to comprehend, implement, and adhere to company policies and procedures while actively promoting the principle of fair treatment for customers.

Responsibilities include liaising with clients, policyholders, local authorities, third parties, claims handlers, and colleagues as necessary.

Maintaining and updating precise records in the company’s claims management IT system is crucial.


Proactively managing a portfolio of work within a designated regional area and assisting in other areas as required is expected.

This position is home-based, and the employee must maintain a suitable home office environment. Occasional attendance at local company offices may be required.

A company vehicle will be provided, and a full driver's license is mandatory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Training will be provided specific to the role, requiring some foundational knowledge and capability in the following areas:
  • Identifying damage causes and construction defects, assessing repair needs, and scheduling necessary building repairs.
  • Investigating and resolving subsidence and general peril insurance claims.
  • Instructing temporary or emergency measures to ensure the safety of damaged buildings.
  • Understanding building pathology, including issues related to asbestos and damp.
  • Familiarity with building insurance policies and insurance law.
  • Professional report writing and general correspondence, including consultation reports.
  • Specifying site investigations and interpreting geotechnical reports.
  • Knowledge of building construction and foundation systems.
  • Obtaining competitive tenders, assessing them, and making recommendations.
  • Understanding Local Authority Planning & Building Regulations.
  • Comprehending Health & Safety Legislation & CDM Regulations.
  • Familiarity with the Party Wall etc Act.
  • Administering building contracts and related contract law.
  • Project management of on-site building works, valuing and authorizing contractual payments, and agreeing on variations.
  • Experience in cost control and financial awareness.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly the MS Office Suite.

Person Specification / Key Skills:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline, such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying, or a related field.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated.
  • Exceptional communication skills and clarity in articulation.
  • Understanding and recognition of customer service and quality standards.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong numeracy skills.
  • Reports to: Head of Subsidence and Surveying.

Liaison with:
Directors, Associate Directors, Managers, Loss Adjusters, Support Staff, Clients, and Suppliers as necessary.
