Regional Technical Manager - Subsidence & Surveying Division (South East) up to £60k

Job Purpose:
The primary objective of this role is to deliver expert subsidence and surveying services related to insurance claims for both residential and commercial properties. The successful candidate will efficiently manage their workload to meet business goals and adhere to established service level agreements (SLAs).


The role involves visiting affected properties to evaluate the technical and insurance factors necessary for resolving claims and restoring damaged structures.

This position requires a readiness to travel across the UK and flexibility in work arrangements to fulfill business needs.

It is essential to understand, implement, and comply with company policies and procedures while actively promoting fair treatment of customers.

Key responsibilities include liaising with clients, policyholders, local authorities, third parties, claims handlers, and colleagues as necessary.

Accurate record-keeping on the company’s claims management IT system is vital.


The candidate will work independently to manage a portfolio of cases within a designated region and provide assistance in other areas as needed.

This is a home-based role, and the employee must maintain a suitable home office environment. Occasional attendance at local company offices will be required.

A company vehicle will be provided, and a valid driver's license is mandatory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Training will be provided, focusing on the following areas:
  • Identifying damage causes and construction defects, assessing repair needs, and scheduling necessary building repairs.
  • Investigating and resolving subsidence and general peril insurance claims.
  • Instructing temporary or emergency measures to ensure the safety of damaged buildings.
  • Understanding building pathology, including issues related to asbestos and dampness.
  • Familiarity with building insurance policies and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Professional report writing and general correspondence, including consultation reports.
  • Specification of site investigations and interpretation of geotechnical assessments.
  • Knowledge of building construction and foundation systems.
  • Obtaining competitive bids, assessing tenders, and making recommendations.
  • Understanding Local Authority Planning & Building Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation & CDM Regulations.
  • Familiarity with the Party Wall etc Act.
  • Administration of building contracts and related legal matters.
  • Project management of on-site building works, including valuation and authorization of contractual payments and agreement of variations.
  • Experience in cost control and financial management.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly the MS Office Suite.

Person Specification / Key Skills:

  • Degree-level education in a relevant field, such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated.
  • Exceptional communication skills and clarity of expression.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and quality standards.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Reports to: Head of Subsidence and Surveying.

Liaison With:
Directors, Associate Directors, Managers, Loss Adjusters, Support Staff, Clients, and Suppliers as necessary.
