Regional Technical Manager - Subsidence & Surveying Division

Role Overview:
The position of Regional Technical Manager focuses on delivering expert subsidence and surveying services associated with domestic and commercial insurance claims. The role requires effective management of workload to meet business objectives and adhere to established service level agreements (SLAs).


Key responsibilities include visiting affected properties to evaluate both technical and insurance elements necessary for resolving claims and restoring damaged structures.

The role necessitates travel across the UK and adaptability in work arrangements to fulfill business needs.

Compliance with company policies and procedures is essential, alongside a commitment to promoting fair treatment of customers.

Collaboration with clients, policyholders, local authorities, third parties, claims handlers, and colleagues is a vital aspect of this role.

Accurate record-keeping on the company’s claims management IT system is required.


Proactive management of a personal portfolio within a designated regional area is expected, along with support in other areas as needed.

This position is home-based, and the employee must maintain a suitable home office environment. Occasional attendance at local company offices may be necessary.

A company vehicle will be provided, and a valid driver's license is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training will be provided, focusing on the following areas:
  • Identifying damage causes and construction defects, assessing repair needs, and scheduling necessary building repairs.
  • Investigating and resolving subsidence and general peril insurance claims.
  • Directing temporary or emergency measures to ensure the safety of damaged buildings.
  • Understanding building pathology, including issues related to asbestos and dampness.
  • Knowledge of building insurance policies and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Professional report writing and general correspondence, including consultation reports.
  • Specification of site investigations and interpretation of geotechnical assessments.
  • Understanding building construction and foundation systems.
  • Obtaining and assessing competitive tenders.
  • Knowledge of Local Authority Planning & Building Regulations.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety Legislation & CDM Regulations.
  • Understanding of the Party Wall etc Act.
  • Administration of building contracts and related legal matters.
  • Project management of onsite building works, including valuing and authorizing payments and agreeing on variations.
  • Experience in cost control and financial management.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly the MS Office Suite.

Candidate Profile:

  • Degree-level education in a relevant field, such as Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Building Surveying.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and quality standards.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in approach.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong numeracy skills.
  • Reports to: Head of Subsidence and Surveying.

Collaboration:
Engagement with Directors, Associate Directors, Managers, Loss Adjusters, Support Staff, Clients, and Suppliers as necessary.
