Job Title: Commissioning Editor for Global Content and Methodologies in Language Learning
Location: Hybrid working model
Role Overview
The Commissioning Editor will collaborate closely with the Publisher for Global Content and Methodologies to create and execute frameworks for international methodologies and generic content across various educational sectors, including pre-primary, primary, secondary, and adult education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research aligned with the publishing strategy, ensuring projects fulfill the publishing vision and business objectives.
- Plan and schedule projects, developing concepts and frameworks in partnership with the Publisher and Portfolio teams.
- Identify suitable contributors and initiate proposal development.
- Collaborate with authors and contributors to create materials that adhere to project briefs.
- Work alongside the content development team to assess materials against project specifications.
- Provide clear briefs to internal and external content developers regarding project specifications, tasks, schedules, and methodologies.
- Negotiate and manage content development contracts with support from Editorial Services.
- Understand digital requirements for various segments and contribute to the digital roadmap as necessary.
- Utilize both in-house and external content development resources to ensure timely publication.
- Adhere to all company content development procedures and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Publisher to prepare cost estimates, forecasts, specifications, and business cases for approval.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree-level education or equivalent, with a formal ELT/TEFL qualification.
- Extensive experience in English language teaching and a solid understanding of ELT markets and segments.
- Proven track record in ELT publishing at a project leadership level, demonstrating successful product development.
- Familiarity with various new media and a solid understanding of publishing technologies and content management systems.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset with innovative thinking capabilities.
- Appreciation for diverse international teaching and learning contexts.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with outstanding written English proficiency.
- Strong team collaboration and organizational skills.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in a second language.
