About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Editor to join our team at Springer Nature in either our London or Madrid office. As a Commissioning Editor, you will be responsible for commissioning and developing high-quality ELT content for our publications. This will involve working closely with authors, contributors, and stakeholders to ensure that our content meets the needs of our key markets and is produced on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market awareness and research: Conduct market research to ensure that our projects meet the publishing vision and business needs.
  • Content development: Develop concepts for ELT content, commission authors and contributors, and work with the content development team to ensure that all briefing follows the project specification.
  • Budget and financial responsibility: Understand the investment approval process and feed into IA documentation as required.
  • Staff management: Manage the performance, training, and development of staff, working closely with the Content Development Manager and the Learning and Development Team.
Requirements
  • Formal ELT/TEFL qualification
  • Knowledge of ELT markets and segments
  • Excellent written English
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage numerous tasks
  • Understanding of publishing technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • At least 3 years English language teaching experience
  • Demonstrable ELT publishing experience at project leadership level
