About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Tax, Payroll and Pensions to join our Finance team at Jisc. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the organization remains compliant with all areas of tax, payroll, and pension regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategy to improve Jisc's tax efficiency and compliance
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on taxation matters to finance business partners
  • Lead and manage the preparation of annual Corporation Tax returns, quarterly and annual VAT computations, and respond to HMRC queries
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to review outcomes and develop improvements
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, reviewing processes to identify weaknesses and driving changes to improve financial control and management information
Requirements
  • Significant experience of tax planning at a senior manager/director level
  • Indepth knowledge and experience of complex payroll, defined contribution, and/or USS pension schemes
  • Experience of working in a charity-oriented role or in higher education
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to rapidly interpret, concisely explain, and act on complex information
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex tax issues in a simple and impactful way
  • Qualified ACA is essential, CTA or ADIT advantageous
