Public Health Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Nurse to join our team as a Looked After Children's Nurse. This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented and passionate team delivering excellent community-based services across Cheshire and Merseyside.
Job OverviewThe successful candidate will support the Specialist Nurses to provide a safe and effective health service to children and young people looked after by local authorities and placed within the local authority boundary of Cheshire East.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Support the Specialist Nurses to provide a safe and effective health service to children and young people looked after by local authorities and placed within the local authority boundary of Cheshire East.
- Support the Named Nurse in developing the service and adopting best practice methods of service delivery to ensure that national and local guidelines and requirements are met.
- Provide specialist advice, support, and training on Safeguarding Children to all WCT staff, taking a leading role in matters relating to the health and wellbeing of looked after children.
- Work as part of the Integrated multi-agency team, ensuring that the Safeguarding Strategy is implemented across the borough and ensuring that all practitioners can access advice and support about health needs of children and young people.
- Work as part of the Multi-agency Team to ensure that the views of children and young people, and healthcare workers in linked services can influence the development of Cared for Children clinical practice within East Cheshire.
- Contribute to information sharing from across the local health economy, including primary and secondary care, to inform risk assessments, care planning, and decision-making.

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have:
- RGN/RN/RSCN/RM qualification
- Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse or RSCN qualification
- Portfolio of evidence demonstrating continued professional development
Desirable criteria include:
- Nursing Degree or allied health practitioner equivalent
- Teaching or Mentorship qualification
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience as a Health Visitor, School Nurse, or RSCN, with significant experience of Safeguarding Children processes
- Sound working knowledge of Community Health Care provision
- Awareness of the legislative framework underpinning children's health provision, safeguarding children, and looked after children
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate assessment of needs of children and interventions required to safeguard children
- Participation in developments in practice
- Experience of facilitating and delivering training to colleagues
- Ability to manage potentially hostile, antagonistic, or highly emotive atmospheres, disseminating unwelcome information in a sensitive manner
- Ability to prioritise workload and sound personal organisational skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Excellent inter-personal skills, including negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills
- Excellent leadership skills
- Ability to make sound judgements regarding the welfare of children, demonstrating confidence in professional view and analysis
- Ability to plan inter-agency interventions for children and families
- Ability to influence, motivate, and negotiate with others
- Ability to produce clear and concise written reports as required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritise workload/work within and meet deadlines
- Effective presentation, facilitation, and teaching skills
- Self-management and motivation skills
- Confidence to challenge traditional practice and persistence to address difficult issues
- IT literate
