Warrington, Warrington, United Kingdom Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHSFT Full time

Job Overview

We are thrilled to announce a remarkable opportunity within the Medical Care Clinical Business Unit (CBU) for a dynamic and dedicated Service Manager. As a key member of the CBU management team, you will oversee a diverse portfolio in a high-energy setting, contributing to the operational management and strategic oversight of Critical Care, Respiratory, and Palliative Care Services.

This position is pivotal in supporting the Trust's commitment to excellence, ensuring we remain OUTSTANDING for our patients, communities, and staff.

To excel in this role, substantial operational experience within the NHS is essential.

If you are a seasoned, driven, and self-sufficient leader capable of making independent decisions, we would be eager to connect with you.

Depending on your qualifications and experience, this role may be suitable for an apprenticeship. As an Apprentice at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will pursue a Senior Leaders PGDip qualification, gaining valuable skills and knowledge as outlined below. The successful candidate will be allocated dedicated time to achieve this qualification and will participate in study sessions with a local training provider.

We are also committed to the development of our workforce, offering opportunities to join the team under Annexe 21 arrangements, where you will receive support through a development plan to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to advance in this role.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Care Business Unit (CBU) encompasses various specialties, including Critical Care, Respiratory, Cardiology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Palliative Care, Dermatology, and Neurology Services. Our collaborative approach focuses on delivering the Quality, People, and Sustainability framework, placing patients at the core of our operations. We foster a proactive culture that embraces learning from experiences.

In this role, you will collaborate with the Clinical Lead and Matron within the specialties, spearheading the execution of patient-centered clinical operational strategies and plans while engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe services in alignment with performance indicators is crucial, as you will manage the daily operational performance, including key performance indicators, finance, and governance frameworks.

Reporting directly to the CBU Manager, you will operate at a senior level, proactively leading and motivating teams. You will also be expected to step in for the Clinical Business Manager when necessary.

Candidates must be prepared to participate in the Trust senior manager on-call (SMOC) as required through the Trust on-call rota.

Job Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, motivated, and independent leader capable of acting on their initiative, consistently achieving outstanding performance as a role model for the Trust's values and behaviors. With a proactive leadership style, the Service Manager for Critical Care, Respiratory, and Palliative Care Services will excel in a dynamic environment, steering the strategic direction and performance of these services within the Medical Care CBU.

The role entails overseeing the development of Critical Care services, ensuring compliance with CQC and Cheshire and Merseyside Critical Care Network (CMCCN) standards. You will provide expert guidance and support to achieve and maintain Critical Care Network Standards, adhering to national specifications and guidelines.

The Service Manager will possess managerial experience in leading teams and will demonstrate the leadership skills necessary to navigate complex issues while ensuring policy implementation and performance management within Critical Care, Respiratory, and Palliative Care services.
