Community Engagement Officer - Part Time

Working Hours: 3 days a week (part time)

Salary Scale: £32,925 - £35,031 (salary will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis for part-time work)

Contract Type: Fixed term opportunity - up to 15 months

The role of the Community Engagement Officer is pivotal in spearheading community involvement initiatives as part of the Development Phase of the heritage project aimed at enhancing community access to Broomfield Park. The successful candidate will be integrated into the project team, collectively responsible for the development of a project that aims to commemorate Broomfield House, preserve and improve the historic Broomfield Park, and deliver outreach and interpretation to various audiences, encouraging engagement with both the project and its heritage.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a background in executing cultural initiatives that prioritize community engagement within a museum and heritage framework. Key qualifications include:

  • Excellent communication skills, with a requirement to engage with the public and provide guidance in clear spoken English. A courteous and respectful demeanor is essential when interacting with community members.
  • A proven history of community or stakeholder engagement in a heritage or cultural setting, showcasing the ability to effectively connect with diverse age groups, particularly youth and seniors, as well as community organizations and artists.
  • Experience in planning, managing, and executing pilot projects and collaborative activities, demonstrating the capability to lead community consultations with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of best practices in community engagement and volunteer management, with a demonstrated ability to adapt based on feedback and the evolving needs of the project.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities, with meticulous attention to detail. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the flexibility to adjust to changing circumstances are crucial.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in delivering National Lottery Heritage Fund projects and/or those with direct lived or professional experience within the communities of Enfield.
