Position Overview

Are you an experienced educator with a passion for supporting young individuals facing mental health challenges?

Five Education Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated Behavior Specialist Teacher to work with students exhibiting Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), as well as Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is set within a specialized Alternative Provision school.

The students in this setting often deal with SEMH issues such as anxiety and depression, and many have faced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). A significant number have been diagnosed with Autism and may also have additional medical needs related to their mental health.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in teaching within a Pupil Referral Unit or a similar educational environment. You should be adept at managing challenging behaviors and building strong relationships with students who may be difficult to engage. Previous roles as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) are advantageous, or you may be pursuing a teaching qualification.

Work Schedule: This position requires a commitment of five days per week during term time, with working hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The starting daily rate is £110, with potential for higher earnings based on relevant qualifications and experience. The workday consists of 7 hours, excluding an unpaid lunch break.

Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH challenges, utilizing existing resources.
· Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting activities to suit their individual abilities.
· Foster a positive and enjoyable learning environment.
· Provide assistance to students during challenging moments, helping them to remain focused and calm.

Essential Qualifications:
· Two years of references, with at least one reference from work involving children or vulnerable adults (recent experience required).
· A valid DBS/Police check.
· Availability to work five days a week.
