About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school for students with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH. As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher and providing individualized support to students with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and providing individualized support to students
  • Offer general classroom support, including 1:1 support, to students with Autism and other special educational needs
  • Manage behavior and de-escalate conflicts in a calm and professional manner
  • Monitor students during break times and meal times to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Maintain a tidy and organized classroom environment
  • Prepare activities and materials for lessons, including printing and photocopying
  • Provide emotional support to students with Autism and other special educational needs
About You
  • Have at least 1 year of experience as a Teaching Assistant in a UK school
  • Have knowledge of SEND, including learning and behavioral needs
  • Be able to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Have good initiative and be able to work independently
  • Be a caring, patient, and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting students with Autism and other special educational needs
  • Be a good team player who is able to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Have a great sense of humor and be able to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
