Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and qualified Patient Care Support Specialist to join our collaborative team at SUMMERVALE SURGERY. This role is part-time, with the expectation of flexibility to cover for team members during absences.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist the nursing team in providing comprehensive healthcare services, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to deliver care to our patient population. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting initial health assessments for new patients.
  • Supporting the nursing staff in health promotion initiatives.
  • Performing baseline health checks, including vital signs and accurately documenting findings.
  • Facilitating routine monitoring and advising patients on their health.
  • Assisting with wound care and other clinical tasks as necessary.
  • Aiding in the management of chronic disease clinics.
  • Carrying out body mass index (BMI) assessments as directed.
  • Acting as a chaperone when required.
  • When trained, performing blood draws and administering vaccinations.
  • Managing stock supplies and ensuring clinical areas are well-prepared.
  • Participating in practice audits and local initiatives to enhance patient care.

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Background in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience in a primary care environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or in progress.
  • Certification in phlebotomy.

Desirable

  • Certification in ear syringing.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical records.

Desirable

  • Skills in wound care and removal of sutures.
  • Experience with ECGs and spirometry.
