This full-time position as a Consultant in Gastroenterology at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is tailored for candidates eager to pursue advanced training in Gastroenterology or CESR.
The role includes overseeing outpatient gastroenterology clinics, performing ward responsibilities, attending multidisciplinary team meetings, and contributing to quality improvement projects.
Training in endoscopy will be provided, with additional support to facilitate career advancement.
Main Responsibilities
Collaborate with colleagues to deliver exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities will include ward management, participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, and conducting outpatient gastroenterology clinics. Additional duties will encompass quality improvement initiatives, administrative tasks, and ongoing medical education.
Training in endoscopy will be offered, and once proficiency is achieved, responsibilities will be adjusted to include independent endoscopy lists.
Please be aware that the job plan may be subject to weekly adjustments to optimize training opportunities while ensuring service continuity.
The successful candidate will be assigned a clinical and educational supervisor and will receive support for career development.

Essential Qualifications
- Basic Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
- MRCP Part 1
- MRCP Part 2
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
- ATLS/ALS/APLA
- At least 4 years of postgraduate training, with two years in a relevant specialty or equivalent experience.
- Operative skills at a middle-grade level
- Ability to recognize and accept limitations in decision-making
- Experience working within the NHS in a substantive position
Management and Administrative Skills
- Proficient in organizing and prioritizing workload effectively.
- Ability to plan strategically and exercise sound judgment under conflicting pressures.
Other Requirements
An understanding of the current NHS landscape, particularly regarding reforms, initiatives, and challenges.
