Job Title: Gastroenterology Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Gastroenterology Consultant to join our team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our gastroenterology services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultation services to patients and other clinical colleagues
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties
  • Participate in the development of treatment protocols and guidelines
  • Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors
  • Contribute to clinical governance, risk management, and clinical audit
Requirements:
  • Basic Medical Degree
  • Full MRCP or equivalent
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR
  • JAG accreditation for diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy
  • JAG accreditation for independent colonoscopy
  • Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Gastroenterology
  • ALS (Adult Life Support) within the last 3 years
  • GMC Registration
Desirable:
  • Higher Medical Degree
  • Experience of clinical leadership within the team
  • Evidence of engagement and understanding in clinical governance
  • Ability to use the evidence base to support decision-making and service development
