Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterology Consultant to join our team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our gastroenterology services.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing consultation services and advisory services to other clinical colleagues within the Trust and Primary Care
  • Participating in the development of the gastroenterology service, treatment protocols, and guidelines
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties
  • Providing professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty
  • Demonstrating a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management, and Clinical Audit
About Us

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall. We serve a population of 286,700 and provide inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital, as well as a wide range of services in the community.

Proposed Job Plan

The proposed job plan splits the workload into ward weeks and elective weeks. A final job plan will be agreed following discussion with the successful candidate and the Clinical Director. The job averages out to 10 PAs per week with increased SPA during the elective weeks compared with hot week.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A wide experience in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine at senior level
  • Independent in therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy
  • A wide clinical experience including MDT working
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Trust's strategic objectives
