We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Security Officer to join our team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the welfare, safety, and security of our diverse hospital-based community and its assets, including car parks, buildings, and accommodations.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to enquiries in person, by phone, or email, providing excellent customer service.
- Attend and respond to emergency situations, such as fire alarm activation, evacuations, lockdown response, and crime-related calls for service.
- Conduct general patrols of the hospital, including car parks, and issue parking charge notices as necessary.

Main Duties of the Job- Carry out frequent patrols of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites to ensure the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors.
- Deter, prevent, detect, and initially investigate security-related incidents, such as theft, criminal damage, assault, violence, and aggression, and liaise with the Police as necessary.
- Review, assess, and advise employees on matters relating to improving security.
- Liaise with the Estates Department on security maintenance matters, such as lighting, broken windows, locks, swipe card readers, etc.
- Undertake appropriate action in accordance with current fire procedures.
- Assist in preventing and managing acts of violence or disorderly or abusive conduct on Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites.
- Respond to intruder, lift, and fire alarms as required, taking charge of the incident until the arrival of a senior member of staff or external emergency services.Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a full clean UK driving license, be over the age of 21 for insurance purposes, have good assertiveness, customer care skills, and experience, written and verbal communication skills, and be fully computer literate.

- Understanding of basic Law & Legislation in relation to Security
- Previous NHS experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good assertiveness skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to deal with difficult situations calmly
- Health and Safety skills
- Willingness to undergo 'on the job' training and attend specialist courses as necessary.
- Training on Data Protection
- Must hold a full, clean driving license.
