Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Nurse to lead our Nursing and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) workforce and drive innovative, safe, and compassionate care across various geographical and clinical settings.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert nursing advice to the Board, with a special interest in Quality Improvement, Quality and Governance, Regulation, and Education.
  • Take the strategic lead and provide the strategic vision for the nursing and registered and unregistered nursing workforce, in accordance with local and national nursing and workforce priorities and Trust strategy.
  • Hold overall responsibility for the professional leadership of all nursing staff employed by the Trust, ensuring that nursing strategies, policies, and practices are of a high standard and that nurses are equipped to meet the opportunities and challenges facing modern healthcare in the Trust.
  • Implement continuing professional development for nurses and establish and maintain nursing development programs within the Trust, fostering educational partnerships.
  • Ensure the Trust has a robust professional regulatory framework in place for nursing, with robust arrangements for training, educating, and re-validating nurses in the delivery of high-quality, user-centered care.
  • Foster active involvement by nurses in the Trust's academic activities and research.
  • Work with the Chief Executive and Executive Management Team to develop, monitor, and implement the Trust's strategy and enhance the Nursing Strategy to guide existing standards and future service and practice.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive and Executive Management Team to develop integrated care pathways between Primary Care, Community Health Services, Acute Care, Mental Health, and Social Care.
  • Liaise with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as required.
  • Maintain productive relationships and networks with other Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STP) nurse leaders.
Requirements
  • Possession of a degree or equivalent experience in nursing or a relevant subject.
  • A relevant Master's degree or equivalent experience in nursing or a relevant subject.
  • Relevant professional nursing qualification, RN Adult, Mental Health, LD, Child.
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) on a relevant part of the register.
  • Previous Senior Nursing/Operational level or above within a combined care setting.
Desirable
  • Dual Registration is desirable or relevant experience working in both community and mental health providers.
  • Operational experience at a senior level.
