Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Team Leader to join our team at JD Sports. As a Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of payroll professionals in processing high-volume payrolls for our 35,000 colleagues across 43 payrolls, including 5 offshore payrolls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the completion of payrolls for 35,000 colleagues over 43 payrolls, including 5 offshore payrolls, across weekly, lunar, and monthly pay frequencies.
  • Lead a team of payroll professionals to meet key deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs) to a high standard.
  • Promote best practices and ensure the team is focused on delivering exceptional service to our colleagues.
  • Train and develop the team on payroll processing and legislative changes, monitoring their performance and providing guidance and support.
  • Proactively identify trends in queries and liaise with key stakeholders across the business to resolve issues at source.
  • Be the go-to person for guidance and support within the team and across the business.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of working with high-volume payrolls.
  • A solid understanding of payroll, benefits, and general legislation, ideally including some offshore legislation knowledge.
  • Strong time management and coordination skills to manage the team to meet key deadlines.
  • People-focused with a desire to see the team succeed.
  • A desire to learn and continuously improve.
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills to break down pay queries and make them understandable for colleagues and team members.
