Job Summary:

iO Associates - UK/EU is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of electro-mechanical connectors and systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and Mathcad, and a strong understanding of engineering principles and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of electro-mechanical connectors and systems, utilizing Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailed drawings.
  • Vault Management: Implement and manage version control processes using Autodesk Vault, ensuring proper documentation, organization, and revision tracking to facilitate collaboration within the team.
  • MathCAD Analysis: Perform engineering calculations and analysis using MathCAD to ensure the structural integrity, thermal performance, and reliability of electro-mechanical connectors and systems.
  • Technical Leadership: Assume full responsibility for live and R&D design packages, including overseeing associated draftspeople, checking and approving design packages, troubleshooting manufacturing/testing issues, and producing training material for engineering teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, materials engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical designs into electro-mechanical systems, collaborating with project managers to align project requirements and timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of mechanical designs to ensure they meet industry standards, compliance requirements, and internal quality benchmarks, establishing and enforcing quality control measures within the design process.
  • Innovation and Optimization: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, driving innovation and optimization in mechanical design processes to enhance efficiency and product performance.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality mechanical designs, providing technical leadership and guidance to the mechanical design team.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Post-graduate degree and Chartered Status are desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and MathCAD.
  • Competence in FEA analysis and a strong understanding of engineering principles and data analysis.
  • Project management skills to organize tasks, manage timelines, and control budgets.
  • A balance of technical, commercial, and leadership experience to deliver complex projects on time and on budget.
  • A proactive mindset with a desire to drive continual improvement and take ownership of engineering activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
