Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

iO Associates - UK/EU is seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical solutions. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving innovation and optimization in product development, ensuring the highest standards of precision, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of electro-mechanical connectors and systems, utilizing Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailed drawings. Incorporate innovative solutions to meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • MathCAD Analysis: Perform engineering calculations and analysis using MathCAD to ensure the structural integrity, thermal performance, and reliability of electro-mechanical connectors and systems.
  • Technical Leadership: Assume full responsibility for live and R&D design packages, including overseeing associated draftspeople. Check and approve design packages, troubleshoot manufacturing/testing issues, and produce training material for engineering teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, materials engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical designs into electro-mechanical systems. Collaborate with project managers to align project requirements and timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of mechanical designs to ensure they meet industry standards, compliance requirements, and internal quality benchmarks. Establish and enforce quality control measures within the design process.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality mechanical designs. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the mechanical design team.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions. Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Requirements:
  • Education: Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Post-Graduate Degree and Chartered Status: Post-graduate degree and Chartered Status are desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and MathCAD. Competence in FEA analysis and a strong understanding of engineering principles and data analysis.
  • Project Management Skills: Project management skills to organize tasks, manage timelines, and control budgets.
  • Leadership Experience: A balance of technical, commercial, and leadership experience to deliver complex projects on time and on budget.
  • Proactive Mindset: A proactive mindset with a desire to drive continual improvement and take ownership of engineering activities.
