Job Summary:

iO Associates - UK/EU is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of electro-mechanical connectors and systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving innovation and optimization in mechanical design processes, ensuring the highest standards of precision, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of electro-mechanical connectors and systems, utilizing Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailed drawings.
  • Technical Leadership: Assume full responsibility for live and R&D design packages, including overseeing associated draftspeople. Check and approve design packages, troubleshoot manufacturing/testing issues, and produce training material for engineering teams.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with electrical engineers, materials engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical designs into electro-mechanical systems. Collaborate with project managers to align project requirements and timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of mechanical designs to ensure they meet industry standards, compliance requirements, and internal quality benchmarks. Establish and enforce quality control measures within the design process.
  • Innovation and Optimization: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Drive innovation and optimization in mechanical design processes to enhance efficiency and product performance.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality mechanical designs. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the mechanical design team.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions. Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Post-graduate degree and Chartered Status are desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and MathCAD.
  • Competence in FEA analysis and a strong understanding of engineering principles and data analysis.
  • Project management skills to organize tasks, manage timelines, and control budgets.
  • A balance of technical, commercial, and leadership experience to deliver complex projects on time and on budget.
  • A proactive mindset with a desire to drive continual improvement and take ownership of engineering activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
