We are on the lookout for a Financial Optimization Analyst to become part of our team. This position offers a flexible, hybrid working model.

This role is accessible by various means of transport from surrounding areas.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with the business to deliver financial analysis and insights to the National Commercial Excellence team and regional commercial teams.

Your responsibilities will include analyzing the effectiveness of various initiatives aimed at improving commercial performance, such as pricing strategies, specific volume growth, and margin enhancement.

This is a remarkable opportunity for a finance or analytics professional to advance their career within a large organization that is part of a FTSE100 group, with the potential to significantly influence margin growth across a diverse business.

Main Responsibilities

To excel as a Financial Optimization Analyst, you should be adept at handling large volumes of complex data. Therefore, advanced proficiency in Excel is essential, along with relevant finance qualifications or experience.

Experience in database interrogation is also necessary, and familiarity with SAP and Power BI would be beneficial.

You will need to possess strong relationship-building skills and the ability to communicate your analysis clearly and effectively.

Your role will encompass (but is not limited to):

  • Establishing and leading the ongoing development and reporting of key commercial initiatives, linking KPIs and performance metrics to financial outcomes through robust methodologies.
  • Building effective partnerships and providing specialized support to the Commercial Excellence team regarding the impact of strategic decisions on optimization delivery.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities for performance improvement and recognizing areas of best practice and underperformance.
  • Assisting National and Regional Finance teams in understanding performance against initiatives and benchmarking KPIs.
  • Contributing to the forecasting of commercial outputs led by the FP&A team.
  • Providing initiative-focused self-help reporting and analysis tools through Excel, SAP/BW, and Power BI.
  • Supporting the delivery of technology projects aimed at enhancing business performance.

The Ideal Candidate

To thrive in the role of Financial Optimization Analyst, we seek a candidate who meets the following criteria:

  • Part qualified or fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • High proficiency in analytical modeling skills and techniques, utilizing Excel, SAP/BW, and Power BI.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and nurture relationships.
  • A proven track record in delivering key control information and contributing to improvement action plans.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel between offices as required.
  • A positive and approachable demeanor.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
