Transport Operations Manager

Our client, a leading chilled food company, is seeking a highly skilled Transport & Port Operations Manager to join their fast-paced operation. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective coordination of goods from port to depot, while providing exceptional customer service.
You will lead the UK transport plan, maximizing capacity and revenue per load, and collaborate with ports, depots, and 3rd party hauliers to negotiate rates and overcome daily logistics challenges. Additionally, you will oversee the UK rail strategy, supply chain coordination team, and bring fresh ideas to improve the transport function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the movement of goods from port to depot, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
- Lead the UK transport plan, maximizing capacity and revenue per load.
- Negotiate rates with ports, depots, and 3rd party hauliers.
- Oversee the UK rail strategy and supply chain coordination team.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the transport function.
Requirements:
- Experience in a Transport/Port Operations Manager role, coordinating FMCG products.
- Strong understanding of road, sea, and rail transportation.
- Excellent communication skills to develop strong relationships with the team and stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to prevent issues from arising.
- ERP system knowledge, ideally SAP, and the ability to manipulate data to drive improvements.
- Educated to Degree level in a Logistics/Supply Chain discipline (advantageous).
