About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs in a secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in creating a nurturing environment that enables pupils to engage successfully in all aspects of learning.
  • Assist with outdoor day trips and activity days, promoting social skills and independence.
  • Embody the school's vision and core values, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Work with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex needs, and challenging behavior, providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Participate in full-time, 8:30am to 3:30pm, 1:1 and small group work, ensuring pupils stay on track with the curriculum.
Requirements
  • Patience, proactivity, and resilience are essential in this role, as you will be working with pupils who require additional support.
  • Experience working within a SEN school is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with pupils, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
