Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Process Engineer - Fiber Optics Team Lead to join our team at Boeing. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for defining requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture, and maintenance of products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Defines requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture, and maintenance of products and approves their use.
  • Leads production of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.
  • Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Conducts complex analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts, or processes.
  • Leads design, development, and qualification of sophisticated computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design, and qualification, (3) work procedures, and (4) labs and office areas.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 1+ years of experience with Electro Optical (ex: producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration, and test of fiber optic (F/O) sensors, systems, and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in aerospace, material science, metallurgical engineering, and/or mechanical engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with design, building, and testing circuits, mechanical fixtures, as well as basic knowledge of mechanisms and components (relays, switches, connectors, integrated microcircuits, etc.).
  • 5+ years' experience with Parts, Materials, and Processes engineering in the Aerospace industry.
Education and Experience
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
