Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Lead Civil Engineering Specialist to join our award-winning Energy team. This role is pivotal in providing a cost-effective and safe engineering service while overseeing engineers and supporting the Engineering Manager in construction operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and establish best practices in health, safety, and environmental standards in collaboration with the SHQE department.
  • Assist in the design of temporary works schemes.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, designers, team members, and our supply chain.
  • Guide engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
  • Ensure that all drawings and specification documents are comprehensive and accurate for construction purposes.
  • Formally request any missing information promptly to avoid project delays.
  • Communicate effectively with foremen and supervisors to ensure clarity of information.
  • Oversee the selection and requisition of materials and equipment for construction activities.
  • Prepare detailed risk assessments and method statements for work control.
  • Maintain a thorough daily site diary, documenting changes, subcontractor attendance, and work-related discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with inspection and test plans as per the PMP/Specification, including checks on dimensional accuracy and quality.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in construction or civil engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMs), and Temporary Works.
  • Strong knowledge of current civil engineering legislation, as well as health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • The ability to engage in technical discussions with individuals across various levels and disciplines.
  • Capability to develop, implement, and manage safe working systems for construction procedures.
