Engineering Process Optimization Manager

We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Process Optimization Manager to serve as a technical authority, spearheading the operational excellence initiatives through a data-centric methodology. This role is pivotal in enhancing organizational profitability and improving employee work conditions by effectively managing the resources of the process engineering division. Collaborating closely with the Plant Manager, you will establish engineering objectives aimed at driving performance enhancements through efficiency and quality advancements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the effectiveness of process engineering across the site, focusing on the enhancement and optimization of equipment, processes, and production lines.
  • Provide leadership and support across various functions on daily operational challenges and capital investment projects, particularly regarding technical aspects and safety.
  • Ensure the Process Engineering team is engaged and developed to meet current and future technical and capacity demands. Identify and address training needs, maintaining an updated training matrix.
  • Contribute to the operational strategy of the team, including justifications for capital expenditures related to site enhancements and new equipment.
  • Assist in the establishment, monitoring, and enhancement of process compliance with Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Environmental standards. Maintain process documentation to support compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Initiate and promote innovation in production processes and systems, employing KAIZEN principles, correlation analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Development Managers to prioritize tasks, optimize formulations, and support technical and aesthetic product advancements.
  • Manage departmental budgets effectively.
  • Coordinate data-driven improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs) across facilities, ensuring engineering efforts are concentrated on high-impact areas.
  • Review best practices from other divisions and evaluate innovations that could lead to improvements or cost savings, substantiating implementation through return on investment analysis.
  • Actively engage in and support all KAIZEN principles and activities, dedicating time to assist engineers with KAIZEN initiatives.
  • Adhere to all general, departmental, and position-specific procedures as outlined in the procedural manual.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant customer and governmental standards (e.g., IATF & ISO).
  • Communicate the President's directives and facilitate their implementation.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Key Requirements for the role:

  • Relevant qualifications in Engineering (HNC/HND).
  • Experience in Process/Production Engineering within a manufacturing context, with a proven ability to lead process development using a data-driven approach.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, demonstrating effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Extensive background in manufacturing/change management/process engineering (ideally 6-10 years or more).
  • Familiarity with IATF16949 requirements and procedures is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in production reporting systems and MRP in an automotive manufacturing setting.
  • Competent in Excel, Word, and CAD software.
