Title: Product Category Management Specialist
Reporting to: Senior Category Manager
Your Role & Team Summary
As a Product Category Management Specialist, you will play a crucial role in fostering the growth of our product categories and driving customer success within the UK and Ireland market. Collaborating closely with the Senior Category Manager, you will analyze market trends and data, manage product assortments, and engage with various teams. Your objective is to improve sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Your analytical insights will influence our product strategies, pricing, and promotional efforts. Together, we will make informed decisions to optimize our product offerings and enhance customer engagement.
You will be part of a vibrant team of three, working with brands such as Sharpie, PaperMate, Parker, and Yankee Candle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Analysis: Investigate industry and consumer data to identify trends and apply these insights to long-term category strategies.
  • Product Range Management: Recommend pricing, promotions, and product placements to enhance sales and profitability within assigned categories.
  • Customer Engagement: Cultivate relationships with customers to ensure successful implementation of recommendations.
  • Product Phase-Out Strategies: Develop plans for phasing out underperforming products within assigned categories.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Partner with marketing and commercial teams to devise strategies and tactics based on syndicated data and consumer insights.
  • Business Management Support: Address segment-specific requests, facilitate information sharing, monitor category performance, and propose necessary actions regarding product assortment and prioritization.
  • Customer Insights: Integrate category knowledge and innovation into discussions, collaborating with Category Development to transform expertise into effective customer engagement and sales strategies.
Required Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a similar capacity with a solid understanding of Category Management, marketing principles, tools, and processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with syndicated data, metrics, and software (e.g., NPD, Nielsen, GfK) as well as space management principles and tools.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in Category Management within a mass-market retail environment.
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to interpret and utilize data for business insights.
  • Relationship management: Capacity to build professional relationships both internally and externally.
  • Project management: Proficient in managing multiple tasks with deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
