We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pain Medicine Consultant to join our team at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pain management services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert medical care to patients with chronic pain, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of pain conditions.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, and occupational therapists, to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pain management policies and procedures, ensuring that they are evidence-based and aligned with best practice.
- Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit and quality improvement initiatives, to ensure that our pain management services are safe, effective, and patient-centered.
- Supervise and support junior medical staff, including medical students and junior doctors, in their clinical practice and professional development.
- Engage in research and education activities, including the development of clinical guidelines and the delivery of educational programs for healthcare professionals.
- Hold a general medical qualification (e.g., MBBS or equivalent) and be registered with the General Medical Council.
- Have a recognized specialist qualification in pain medicine or a related field (e.g., anaesthetics or palliative care).
- Have significant experience in pain management, including experience in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Have excellent clinical skills, including the ability to diagnose and manage complex pain conditions.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Have a commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to participate in education and research activities.
