Job Title: Senior Environmental Officer

 

Job Summary:

The Forest Management Branch is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Officer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the development and continuous improvement of the Disturbance Approval System (DAS) and other corporate applications to support the environmental assessment and authorization of disturbance and management activities on lands managed by the Department.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the development and continuous improvement of the DAS and other corporate applications to support the environmental assessment and authorization of disturbance and management activities on lands managed by the Department.
  • Lead strategic projects to support the delivery of conservation and ecosystem management services across the State, including provision of specialist advice on ecosystem health and management initiatives.
  • Assist with the management of effective work teams through provision of support, training and mentoring services for other staff.

 

Selection Criteria:

Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than five (5) pages in total.

  • Considerable knowledge of contemporary environmental standards, assessment frameworks, and decision support systems for planning and managing disturbance activities in natural landscapes.
  • Demonstrated experience in translating integrated business processes for environmental management into effective computer applications for decision support, monitoring and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently undertake complex project work with limited direction and deliver practical outcomes within deadlines.
  • Considerable demonstrated experience assessing and managing threatening processes (including Phytophthora dieback) in natural landscapes.
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal communication, report writing and computer skills.

 

Requirements:

To be eligible for permanent appointment, it is essential to have Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status.
