Role Overview

As a Support Worker at The National Autistic Society's residential children's home, you will play a crucial role in facilitating daily breakthroughs for autistic children. This position involves working with children and young people aged 8 to 19 in a residential setting, providing 24-hour support.

The service aims to foster the development of social, communication, independence, and coping skills among the children and young people we support, who may have diverse needs and individual challenges.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Support Worker, you will:

  • Ensure that children's communication aids are prepared and accessible
  • Assist children in making independent choices regarding meals and activities
  • Empower children to achieve their goals and support them in both internal and external activities

Working Hours

Your work schedule will consist of 35 hours per week, following a 3-week rolling rota that includes day and afternoon shifts.

Professional Development

Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive induction and are expected to complete training courses and refreshers that enhance their professional growth, which will be discussed during the interview process.

Staff members who do not possess their maths and English qualifications or a level 3 diploma will be required to complete these qualifications following a successful probation period.
