Job Summary

Scottish Borders Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years Practitioner to join our team in the Nursery class. The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of childcare and education, taking an active part in other appropriate duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the long, medium, and short-term planning process of all aspects of the curriculum in line with local and national guidelines.
  • Implement plans to deliver an effective early years service to individual children and groups of children.
  • Set up and prepare materials for planned nursery activities.
  • Carry out planned nursery activities with various groups of children.
  • Clear up after planned nursery activities to ensure materials and equipment are well cared for and stored properly.
  • Provide ongoing supervision to provide a safe, healthy, and secure environment for children.
  • Encourage children in the development of good personal hygiene, providing assistance to individuals as necessary.

Requirements

  • At least one of the following qualifications: HNC in Childhood Practice/Childcare & Education, SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF 7 / SVQ 3 Children's Care, Learning & Development, or SNNEB/NNEB with a record of on-going CPD during the past 5 years.
  • Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of appointment and maintenance of registration throughout the period of employment.
