About the Role:

The Ageing and Complex Medicine Directorate at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive geriatric medicine and sub-specialties, including Stroke Medicine, Ortho Geriatrics, and Frailty Services.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of six consultants, one associate specialist, and three specialist registrars to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of care plans for patients with complex needs.
  • Provide expertise in acute care of the elderly, including stroke, orthogeriatric, and frailty services.
  • Support the development of specialist clinics, including stroke, TIA, falls, Parkinson's disease, and dementia services.
  • Collaborate with community teams, including advanced nurse practitioners and community matrons, to provide proactive case management and support.
