Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

Are you a dedicated junior physician with the ability to identify challenges and make sound clinical decisions? We invite you to explore an opportunity within our Emergency Department as a Junior Clinical Fellow.

Your primary responsibility will be to support the delivery of a high-quality emergency medicine service for the community of Mid Essex. You will collaborate with fellow medical professionals to provide urgent care to patients visiting the Emergency Medicine Department, while also mentoring junior colleagues in emergency medicine practices.

In this role, you will coordinate with the on-call consultant for both clinical and administrative matters, as well as the nursing staff, to ensure the efficient operation of the department. You will focus on effective floor management in alignment with national standards, taking a proactive approach to meet the ED 4-hour target without compromising patient care quality.

Main Responsibilities

As a vital member of the Emergency Medicine team, you will deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services to all patients in the emergency assessment area, which includes minor injuries, minor illnesses, ambulatory majors, major cases, pediatric care, and resuscitation zones. These areas are part of the comprehensive Emergency Village, which also encompasses a medical and surgical short-stay ward and a Same Day Emergency Care service.

Your patients will receive a tailored model of care, progressing through assessment areas based on their individual needs. Emergency Nurse Practitioners will work alongside you in the urgent treatment center, in conjunction with a co-located General Practitioner and Emergency Department clinicians.

You will not be expected to lead the department independently at any time.

We offer a supportive work environment with flexible opportunities and the chance to further your career through relevant training and development.

Job Responsibilities
