Why Work with Us

Being part of Sainsbury's Buying Teams means engaging with a committed and supportive group focused on a significant mission: Enhancing Everyone's Eating Experience. As a Purchasing Manager, you will have the chance to lead, implement, and refine the procurement and sales strategy within the Ready-to-Eat Meals category, aiding in the sustainable growth of market presence and profitability. By collaborating across various departments, you will utilize your business insight and analytical expertise to drive product enhancements, create new offerings, and uncover cost efficiencies. With a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, you will play a crucial role in defining the product assortment, influencing key stakeholders, and making strategic decisions to elevate our customers' experience. Become part of a team dedicated to delivering quality and value while enjoying a flexible work-life balance and a culture that promotes continuous development.

Key Responsibilities

As the Procurement Specialist for Salads, Sushi, and Snacks within our Ready-to-Eat Meals team, you will be instrumental in ensuring we offer the highest quality products at competitive prices, contributing to our leading Meal Deal proposition. You will take ownership of the procurement and sales strategy for three essential sub-categories: Salads, Sushi, and Snacks, all of which are vital components of our Lunchtime Meal Deal offering. Your role will challenge you to maintain a competitive core product range while exploring opportunities at the premium end. You will work collaboratively across functions, identifying avenues for new product development and cost efficiencies, while making strategic decisions that involve influencing stakeholders and leveraging financial, market, and customer insights. Additionally, you will manage supplier relationships, ranging from major suppliers in Salads and Sushi to smaller, diverse suppliers in Snacks. With your robust business acumen, analytical capabilities, and effective communication skills, you will contribute to the overall success of the team and support our mission of Enhancing Everyone's Eating Experience.

Ideal Candidate Profile

As a Procurement Specialist within Sainsbury's Buying Teams, you are a seasoned professional with a solid history of negotiating with suppliers and optimizing product assortments to deliver quality and value to customers. Your strong business insight enables you to develop and execute customer-centric category strategies aligned with the company's objectives, aiming for sustainable growth in market share and profitability. Your ability to analyze financial, market, and customer data empowers you to identify opportunities for product enhancements, new product introductions, and cost savings. By collaborating across functions, you review product assortments, make strategic decisions in procurement and sales strategies, and effectively manage supplier relationships to meet performance targets. With excellent communication skills, adaptability, and resilience, you navigate complex information, influence stakeholders, and lead relevant projects to successful outcomes.

We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore new challenges, whether as part of a dynamic team or in different areas of the business. We take employee development seriously and promise to support your growth. We also recognize and celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond, and where feasible, offer flexible working arrangements. When you become part of our organization, you will also enjoy an impressive range of benefits. Here are some highlights:

Starting with a colleague discount, you will receive 10% off at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU, and Habitat after four weeks of employment. This increases to 15% off at Sainsbury's every Friday and Saturday, and 15% off at Argos on each payday. We also prioritize your future with our pension scheme and life insurance. You may also be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 20% of your salary, depending on our collective performance.

Your well-being is important to us. You will receive an annual holiday allowance, with the option to purchase additional leave. We offer various benefits to help your finances, including season ticket loans, interest-free car loans up to £10,000, a cycle-to-work scheme, health cash plans, and pay advances (access to part of your salary before payday), along with access to numerous discounts from hundreds of other retailers. Additionally, if needed, there is an Employee Assistance Programme, and you will also qualify for private healthcare.

We value significant life moments, which is why we provide up to 26 weeks' pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks' pay for paternity leave.

Please refer to our benefits overview for additional details (note that length of service and eligibility criteria may apply).
