GSL Education is in search of a committed and caring Special Needs Teaching Assistant to positively influence the educational journey of students within a supportive secondary school environment.

Responsibilities of the Special Needs Teaching Assistant:

  • Collaborate with a certified teacher to implement tailored learning activities that address the specific needs of students with special educational requirements.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of specialized learning plans, including maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Support students in executing care or therapy plans as directed by qualified professionals.
  • Foster an inclusive environment by encouraging student interaction and participation in various activities.
  • Engage in the creation and execution of individual development plans, contributing to assessments and evaluations.
  • Monitor student behavior and address any complex challenges that may arise during learning activities.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Training in behavior management techniques is advantageous.
  • Experience with children who have diverse disabilities or learning difficulties is preferred, along with a willingness to undergo training.
  • Familiarity with various additional needs, including ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH, is important.
  • Confidence in delivering pre-planned lessons and interventions is required.
  • A Child-only DBS registered to the update service is necessary or the willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
