Job Title: Electrical Control Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

A.G. BARR Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Control Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical control systems for our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Develop Electrical Control Systems: Create and implement electrical control systems for our manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet the required safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with our project engineering team to deliver key critical elements of our business CAPEX plan, including identifying and managing electrical controls aspects of all new installations, upgrades, retrofits, and CI projects.
  • Develop and Maintain PLC/Network Standards: Develop and maintain PLC/network standards to support our IT/OT infrastructure with new projects, ensuring compliance with legislative standards.
  • Ensure Safe Working Practices: Carry out all duties in accordance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards, providing a deeper understanding of safety systems and automation to the engineering and projects teams.
  • Mentor and Train Others: Mentor and train others in PLC, HMI, automated applications, and programming, including the development of training materials.
  • Liaise with External Suppliers: Liaise with external suppliers and contractors relating to automation control, software validation, and development, while acting as a point of contact/permit holder on site where required to maintain compliance and validate works.
  • Asset Data Management: Create and maintain a comprehensive library of asset data, which will guide and define our overarching software architecture.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum HNC level or equivalent in an Electrical engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering control and automation, preferably in a multi-skilled food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Technical Skills: Experience of working on Siemens S7 PLC's and TIA Portal, knowledge of Profibus/ASIbus and Ethernet networking systems, and programming skills in relation to Fanuc Robot Systems.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work well under your own supervision, with a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration.
