About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Category Manager to join our Corporate Procurement Team at SSE Enterprise. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the Fleet, Plant, Fuel & Travel spend category, driving efficiency and effectiveness, and developing strategic relationships with our critical suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a category strategy to drive value and efficiency in the Fleet, Plant, Fuel & Travel spend category.
  • Manage a significant and disparate level of spend to ensure compliance, drive efficiencies, mitigate risk, and drive down the total cost of ownership.
  • Lead strategic, regulated & unregulated sourcing projects, including strategy development, supplier negotiation, award recommendations, business case presentations, and supplier contract execution.
  • Develop strong relationships across the SSE Group by identifying and influencing key stakeholders and proactively building strategic relationships with our critical suppliers to drive innovation and maximise savings opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage the successful creation and execution of a category strategy within a 'regulated' environment – preferably across Fleet/ Plant or similar commodity area.
  • Experience in managing a complex and diverse spend category and delivering value, preferably gained from working across a large, multi-site environment.
  • Proven history of challenging the norm, driving transformational change, and developing innovative solutions to deliver sustainable outcomes.
  • A flair for engaging and influencing key stakeholders at all levels of business and an ability to articulate strategic approaches to multi-disciplined stakeholder groups.
  • A degree or equivalent category management/ regulated procurement experience.
