Job Summary:

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team in a 3-bed children's residential service in Darlington. As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people up to the age of 10 years old with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • Maintain a homely and friendly culture and environment in the homes.
  • Deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication.
  • Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or with young people is desirable.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 25 due to car insurance requirements.
  • NVQ or QCF level 3 in Children and Young People is desirable.
  • You must be able to commute to Darlington, Co Durham.
