About the Role
The Senior Advisor will lead work with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations, and Māori communities to develop and implement initiatives that will improve long-term economic and social outcomes for Māori.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to improve Māori economic and social outcomes
- Build and maintain relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations, and Māori communities
- Provide advice and guidance to Te Puni Kōkiri teams on Māori development initiatives
- Manage local level contractual arrangements and inform investment decisions
- Provide mentoring and coaching to Advisors in their region
Requirements
- Experience working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations, and Māori communities
- Commercial experience with analytical skills and ability to identify and support possible growth opportunities
- Experience as an advisor, including understanding the machinery of government, the public service, and public sector processes
- Data and analytical skills, including knowledge of investments and contracts
- Commitment to building long-term significant relationships and valuing diverse perspectives and experiences
- Broad understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognition of the importance of the Treaty from both Māori and Crown perspectives
- Comfortable working in an ao Māori environment and in situations where tikanga is observed
- Excellent communication skills, including a conversational level of te reo Māori
- Clean full motor vehicle driver's licence
