As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer within the Platform Delivery Engineering division, you will play a crucial role in implementing cloud security best practices throughout the Rapid7 ecosystem. Your efforts will focus on constructing and fortifying our cloud infrastructure while proactively addressing security vulnerabilities associated with essential infrastructure components. We are in search of a dedicated engineer to help guarantee that our platform remains secure, dependable, and accessible for the multitude of customers who depend on it daily.

About The Team

The Platform Delivery Engineering division oversees and facilitates a uniform methodology for our cloud platform utilized by all Rapid7 offerings through DevOps tools and cloud security best practices. We are committed to fostering a DevOps culture that empowers development while emphasizing security and reliability.

You will engage directly with, but not limited to, the following technologies:

  • AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, GitHub, Slack

About The Role

In This Role, You Will:

  • Partner with engineering teams to enhance security across our platform - from conceptualization to deployment, operations, monitoring, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Automate infrastructure management using Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, and Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Leverage a diverse skill set encompassing software development, networking, Linux system administration, configuration management, cloud services, and deployment technologies.
  • Manage projects by overseeing technical details, organizing and planning infrastructural tasks without service interruptions, and assisting others in understanding the priorities and requirements of that work.
  • Establish and execute processes to ensure our infrastructure remains current and identify when it is not.

The skills you will bring include:

  • Demonstrated experience with SaaS services and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in a Cloud Provider such as AWS/Azure/GCP, with experience in services like EC2, EKS or ECS, IAM, VPC networking, and S3.
  • Networking and Linux system administration expertise.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages: Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Java, Bash.
  • Working knowledge of one or more tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • A strong passion for Cloud Security and enhancing developer experiences.
  • A goal-oriented mindset, positive demeanor, and excellent communication skills.
  • A comprehensive understanding of engineering best practices, including appropriate testing methodologies, effective peer code reviews, and resilient architecture.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
