Job Title: Reinsurance Claims Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Reinsurance Claims Technician to join our team at Lawes Consulting Group. As a Reinsurance Claims Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting Senior Claims Advocates and Claims Managers in the efficient and effective management of reinsurance claims.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational:

  • Supervise and finalize the production of new claims files, ensuring they adhere to established standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess risk, review details, and acknowledge receipt to clients and intermediaries, and promptly and accurately prepare claims files, maintaining both in-house and external computerized claims records.
  • Evaluate and anticipate potential issues and queries regarding claims, determining necessary actions to mitigate risks and ensure timely resolution.
  • Review received claims and provide feedback to placing brokers and management as needed to prevent future issues.
  • Alert management to any potential issues before presenting to underwriters, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Generate claims information and present to reinsurers, using written or networked formats, and address any resulting instructions, queries, or inquiries.
  • Monitor reinsurers' agreements and payments, ensuring timely disbursement to beneficiaries and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain effective communication with accounting colleagues regarding fund collection and payment, addressing queries, and clearing accounting entries.
  • Identify potential errors and omissions in arising situations and promptly report any claims difficulties to management.
  • Notify clients and principles of relevant insurer instructions, ensuring transparency and compliance.
  • Resolve problems efficiently and promptly, leveraging broad experience and expertise.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with clients, experts, and insurers, consistently demonstrating prompt, friendly, and professional conduct.
  • Manage claims filing and maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor workload and provide regular reports to management, highlighting areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Craft accurate and high-quality correspondence, filtering information to ensure relevance to the recipient.
  • Provide regular updates to the Claims Manager on the status of claims portfolios, current market conditions, and their potential implications.
  • Attend internal and client meetings as required, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA Guidelines and Group rules and procedures, maintaining meticulous records and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Relationship Management:

  • Nurture and foster relationships with peers and colleagues within the Division and throughout the Group, promoting a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Cultivate and oversee relationships with underwriters, adjusters, attorneys, clients, and industry peers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Engage actively in routine team discussions and updates, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

Generic Knowledge Requirements:

  • Adequate comprehension of fundamental insurance concepts to execute Principal Tasks effectively.
  • Solid familiarity with Underwriters, markets, including their practices, documentation, and customs.
  • Proficient understanding of reinsurance class and other pertinent insurance and regulatory procedures.
