Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering exceptional social work services to adults with complex needs within the framework of Adult Social Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive case management for a diverse caseload of adults and their carers, addressing their unique challenges and requirements.
- Offer expert supervision to qualified and unqualified social work staff, fostering professional development and best practice.
- Act as a Practice Assessor and/or Practice Educator for AMHPs and ASYE social work students, guiding their learning and professional growth.
- Maintain current professional qualifications, memberships, and registrations essential for fulfilling the role's responsibilities.
- Prioritize staff and public safety by effectively managing challenging situations and escalating concerns to management when necessary.
- Conduct thorough MHA assessments in accordance with legal and statutory obligations, ensuring compliance and ethical practice.
- Participate actively in the AMHP rota, demonstrating commitment to providing essential mental health support.
- Advocate for the least restrictive options available, acting autonomously as a qualified professional within the bounds of mental health legislation and associated Codes of Practice.
- Engage and support Nearest Relatives throughout statutory processes, ensuring their involvement and understanding.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of adult social care principles and their practical application.
- Proven experience in a similar role within a Local Authority setting.
- Proficiency in utilizing case-based ICT systems for efficient record-keeping and communication.
- Minimum of one year's experience working in Mental Health settings, demonstrating specialized knowledge and skills.
- Possession of a relevant Post Qualifying Award (e.g., Practice Teaching PQA Award) to enhance professional development.
- Minimum of one year's experience as a qualified practitioner, showcasing practical expertise and competence.
Essential Qualifications
- AMHP qualification or willingness to undertake training within two years of post-qualification practice is expected for all social workers in the adult mental health team.
- Education to degree level with a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CSS/CQSW or DipSW) aligned with the role and specialization.
- Either hold an AMHP qualification or be committed to pursuing it upon completion of two years of post-qualification practice.
