Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join our Health Records Team as a Medical Records Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient management of health records, contributing to the overall quality of service provided to patients and visitors.

This position requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of the service, including the possibility of working various shifts, weekends, and public holidays. The role is demanding, and the ideal candidate must be capable of performing under pressure while maintaining high standards of professionalism.

Comprehensive training will be provided to equip the successful candidate with the necessary skills to operate effectively within various departments, including the Central Medical Records Library, Medical Records Hubs, and Main Reception areas.

Experience in customer service and a commitment to professionalism are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in physical tasks associated with the role, including the movement of equipment and standing for extended periods in reception areas.
  • Deliver a customer-focused service in accordance with confidentiality policies and data protection regulations.
  • Accurately record and process patient information using NHS computer systems, ensuring efficient patient flow.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across various departments to enhance the patient experience and service delivery.
  • Provide non-clinical guidance to patients, their families, and other stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and service users.
  • Proficient numeracy, literacy, and keyboard skills for accurate data entry.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the Health Records Team under the guidance of a Team Leader.
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations.
  • Capacity to prioritize and manage workload amidst competing demands.
  • Flexibility to adapt to service requirements, including shift work.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and skills to enhance customer care.
  • Adherence to corporate and local policies in all work areas.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English and Mathematics.

Desirable

  • Qualifications in Health Records or a related field.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a public-facing role.

Desirable

  • Background in hospital-based health records or related services within the NHS.
  • Understanding of NHS organizational structure and its implications for health records management.

  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes, or eligibility for a Trust personal lease vehicle.
