JOB ROLE DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Aircraft Logistics Specialist

SECTION 1 – JOB PURPOSE

The primary objective of this role is to oversee all urgent and state-related requests for aircraft and user units based at RNAS Yeovilton. This includes ensuring that all necessary checks and controls are completed in accordance with established practices prior to release.

This position serves as the main point of contact among squadrons, departments, Engineering Control Systems (ECS), Supply Chain Operations Center (SCOC), detached operations, and Supply Logistics Integration and Coordination Teams (SLICTs) for all engineering-related priority issues at RNAS Yeovilton.

It is essential that the operations of the Aircraft Logistics Specialist are fully compliant with both Local Health (LH) and Ministry of Defence (MoD) Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) requirements.

SECTION 2 – MAIN ACTIVITIES AND TASKS

  • Operate from within the Production Planning and Control (PPC) areas at RNAS Yeovilton.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Controllers to assess demands that cannot be fulfilled from existing stock and explore alternative supply sources, including different items and assemblies.
  • Review demands (including Manual Demands) to confirm that each request contains the correct NATO Stock Number, Part Number, and relevant details.
  • Facilitate the progression of high-priority demands to ensure that Required Delivery Dates (RDDs) are met.
  • Assign the appropriate priority code, state caveat, and RDD to each demand.
  • Maintain logs for all aircraft cannibalization activities.
  • Utilize all relevant IT systems for the role, including SAP, MJDI, CIETP, and ModNet.
  • Monitor the Aircraft Stores Demand Electronic Record (ASDER) for pending store actions to ensure timely processing of state requests.
  • Coordinate with Inventory Controllers and the Repair Manager to review all second-line assets before submitting demands.
  • Ensure that ASDER and the Supply Demand Tracker (SDT) are kept current with the latest supply information.
  • Process documentation related to the cannibalization process.
  • Address technical inquiries from SLICT and Delivery Teams (DTs).
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders in the Industry Alliance and MoD to provide effective spares services in support of aircraft availability, particularly with the combined Wildcat and Merlin Support Centre and Forward stores.
  • Foster good relationships with all squadrons and user departments based at RNAS Yeovilton, as well as HQ organizations and the air station Logistics department.
  • Assist in sharing best practices across teams.
  • Provide support to expedite the return of critical unserviceable assets from squadrons and user departments.
  • Act as a deputy for the Priority Progression Cell Controllers and Supply Logistics Leads during their absence.
  • Leverage existing knowledge to enhance service delivery by continuously evaluating the availability process for improvements.
  • Undertake any additional duties as directed by LH Management.

SECTION 3 – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Possess advanced problem-solving skills applicable in a support environment.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the customer organization’s structure, processes, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate engineering knowledge of rotary wing aircraft and their systems.
  • Understand the Material Supply process from supplier to customer.
  • Hold a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering or logistics-related field, along with 5 years in the defense industry with specific experience in support for rotary wing aircraft.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of authority and industry, including leading joint meetings and teams.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft applications and possess strong computer skills.
  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills with experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Maintain awareness of aircraft roles, including knowledge of spares and rotables.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to the evolving needs of a service delivery environment.
  • Have a working knowledge of the company’s organizational and operational procedures across business, commercial, finance, technical, and procurement domains.

SECTION 4 – DIMENSIONS

  • Be willing to attend courses for personal development or business needs as required.
  • Perform any other tasks within capability and experience to support the contract.
  • Complete mandatory and continuation training as directed.
  • Contribute to achieving Spares Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
